Position Title: General Manager
Job Type: Full-Time (30 to 35 hours per week)
The Altona & District Chamber of Commerce is the voice of business through education, networking and community involvement. The role of the Chamber is to:

Collaborate with local government as it relates to the interests and needs of local businesses
Job Overview
​
The General Manager is a key representative and highly responsible individual who reports to the Altona & District Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. The General Manager must have the following qualities:

Self-motivated, energetic and positive in nature

Ability to network and listen to the needs of the business community

Resilience and able to look for innovative solutions

Strong oral and written communication skills
-
Excellent interpersonal skills, project coordination and well-organized
-
Strong time management skills and ability to multitask

Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word
-
Knowledge in accounting and budgeting
-
Social media and marketing experience
-
Resident of the Town of Altona or Municipality of Rhineland
Key Responsibilities:
-
Build Chamber membership relations by engaging in-person with all members and potential members to understand the local business’s issues and concerns
-
Maintain and develop Chamber programs and events
-
Be knowledgeable in and promote provincial Chamber affinity benefit programs
-
Implement strategic plans as directed by the Altona & District Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
-
Collaborate with community and business organizations on programs and events
-
Build and maintain relationships with regional, provincial and national Chambers
-
Secure grant funding and seek out non-dues revenue opportunities
-
General office administration and accounting operations
-
Develop and coordinate business related events, including; Annual General Meeting, Annual Awards Banquet, Business After Hours, Downtown Summer Kick Off, Member Appreciation Golf Tournament, Lunch & Learns, Local Career Showcase, Small Business Week, Holiday Open House, new business ribbon cuttings and other Chamber events as required

Develop and maintain website, monthly e-newsletters (including business spotlight), promotional designs, social media platforms and electronic sign

Hire and supervise the Manitoba Youth Job Centre’s Youth Engagement Coordinator
Experience:
-
Managerial experience in a related field of two (2) or more years
-
A valid driver’s license and the use of a vehicle
-
Ability to work evenings and weekends
